MoMA’s Audio Tours as Downloadable MP3s

A while back I read that people were making home brewed audio tours for MoMA. This is several years ago, so the quickest of searches didn’t net much.

What I did discover is that MoMA makes their audio tours available, not just with the headsets at the museum, but as MP3s that can be downloaded and played through your MP3 player.

Here’s a link to the Henri Cartier-Bresson tour.

I found the interface to work well on their site, but it makes for downloading the entire tour clunky. One has to load each chapter from the playlist on the right side of the page, then download each element separately. A “download all” link would be very much welcome.

Now to queue up the tours and revisit the installed shows with both eyes and ears open.

The image above, by Andrew Zuckerman, can be had through 20×200. I very much recommend visiting the rest of his body of work revolving around birds.

The track, wonderfully remixed by Hercules and Love Affair, came out today and is available for download through Amazon.

New Aphex Twin

Aphex Twin is doing a handful of dates in Europe, and has suggested that he’d be playing new, unreleased music. The video below — while shaky — captures the audio from one of those new tracks very nicely. Exciting stuff!

The Chaplin Band – Il Veliero

Il Veliero is a track I’ve heard played at many No Ordinary Monkeys through the past several years. I’ve never asked anyone to ID it, hoping I’d just stumble across it at some point. I finally did on Juno Download.

This review on the release’s Discogs page sums it up nicely:

What a magnificent 12 Inch Version this is. Moved along by the hypnotic bass the track is a stereo delight with first a 4 and a half minute intro that guides you the track’s musical landscape preparing you for the vocals. They appear at the 4:39 mark, but prove to be only a teaser as after two verses we return to the instrumental version again bringing you to the climax of the full vocals which finally make an appearance at 8:40 and play out until the end of the track’s 11:59 length.
