In watching the above montage, I became aware of how easy it was to identify the films from which the scenes were taken. In most instances, the clip’s only a few seconds long, but more than that, it’s been many years since I’ve seen some of the included films. There were a handful of clips I haven’t seen, but from almost all of those I have, I was able to immediately identify the containing film.

I’m reminded of an interview with some artist, I can’t remember who, who said that growing up, he and his brother would play a game in which they’d take turns dropping the needle on an unidentified record for an instant, and the other identifying the track.

Somehow I don’t think, I’m actually pretty sure, I would be as good with identification of songs as I am with film. And further, I can’t identify the photographer of some photographs that I’ve previously been very familiar with. Film just seems to resonate with me more.
