Favoriting and iPhone Twitter Apps
When using iPhone apps to jump on Twitter after a bit of a break, I typically like to use Twitterific because it’ll give me the last 110 updates. This decent sized set is also good to read while on the train, an example being getting the updates on the subway platform, then reading them on the ride in.
The problem with going through this list of updates in Twitterific is that I always come across a few that have links I’d like to follow. As I’d assume is the case with all 3rd party Twitter apps, it’s possible to favorite updates, but unfortunately Twitterific needs to be online to actually accomplish this. I’d like to be able to mark updates as favorites, have the app sync when a data connection is available and finally use Tweetdeck or the Twitter web interface to pull up those favorites, allowing me to click and explore from there.
Tweetie allows for this after the fact syncing of favorited items, but the list of updates it pulls down when having been offline is truncated to narrowly. I think it pulls down 20-30 messages, then after scrolling through them, allows one to grab another set. Of course when I’m underground, grabbing more isn’t an option.
The simplest fix for Twitterific would be to save favorites then sync them when back online. The fix for Tweetie would be to allow me to grab more updates from the get go. Seems like it’s be simpler for Twitterific to give me this functionality.
At the moment no one iPhone Twitter app does everything I need. I don’t have a problem using multiple apps for different functions, but in this case neither of them does what I’m looking for.
