I was out for a quick drink with Frej last night — we hadn’t caught up since we’ve both been back in town. At one point in the conversation he said that I lived my life in NYC more intensely than he. I was caught off guard because only a few days earlier, I was thinking the same thing about him.

Frej’s got a much better rounded knowledge of restaurants and cafes in the city than I. He also manages to get to more galleries than I do. He felt though that I put much more time into music, and listening to that music live, than he does. What it seems to me now, is we’re putting equal effort into the same city, but choosing different aspects of this city, and choosing different times of day/night to explore those aspects. It’s obvious there’s no right or wrong way to approach the way anybody spends their time, but just the same, I find myself wishing I could incorporate more of Frej’s perspective, as I’d guess he would of mine.
