I’ve been fairly satisfied with Twitterific (iTunes link) on my iPhone, but when chatter rose surrounding Tweetie, I decided to give it a shot.

The main problem I had with Tweetie was that every time it was launched, it would display the most recent posts. This might not be a problem for people who use Twitter differently, but I do my best to keep up with all tweets. The way I do this away from the TweetDeck desktop app is that when I launch Twitterific, it loads the post I’d left off at. I’m then free to scroll upward in the app and forward in time.

The buzz surrounding Tweetie flared up again when the new version was released about a week and a half ago. Friends told me that my original criticism had been addressed, and that the app would display the tweet where I’d last left off. Perhaps I’m missing some configuration here, and I’m hoping someone can steer me in the right direction, but that still doesn’t seem to be the case.

An example: I’m in the app which loaded the most recent tweets on launch. I’ve scrolled back loading several refreshes of new (older) tweets and I then find a tweet I want to email. After Tweetie has launched Mail and I’ve sent the message, restarting Tweetie puts me at the most recent tweet with all the older tweets obscured again. Why must I fight this app? For the few dollars I spent on it, I don’t feel I should have to.
